Three housing typologies (students, investors, and home owners) have been created on a plot previously occupied by an office building. Consisting of two blades stretching along Rue Archereau and Rue Curial, opening onto Centquatre-Paris and the Orgues de Flandre, the project brings calm and structure to the neighborhood. Totalling more than 300 housing units, the development — one of the largest non-ZAC housing developments within Paris proper — provided an opportunity to address the need for density with pragmatism, while pre-serving everyone’s comfort. The street-side and courtyard-side frontages are treated differently to reflect the interiors: on the street side, the language is horizontal and smooth, while on the courtyard side, the facade is crafted like a grand pleat, offering distant views.
